Genuity® SmartStax® RIB Complete™ Corn Blend Named Agri Marketing’s 2011 NEW Product of the Year

Chesterfield, MO (October 11, 2011)— Genuity SmartStax RIB Complete corn trait technology, developed by Monsanto Company, has been named Agri Marketing magazine’s 2011 New Product of the Year.
 
“This new refuge-in-the-bag technology represents a significant advancement and was selected as New Product of the Year for the many benefits it will bring to farmers in terms of simpler refuge management and comprehensive insect protection,” says Lynn Henderson, Publisher of Agri Marketing
 
“The award has very rigorous standards, including the benefit and value added to the marketplace, strategic marketing and other industry recognition the product has achieved,” Henderson adds.
 
Genuity SmartStax RIB Complete is a blended seed corn that combines 95 percent Genuity SmartStax seed with above and below ground insect control with 5 percent non-Bt refuge seed in each bag.  This technology eliminates the need to plant a separate structured refuge in the Corn-Growing Area, providing farmers with simpler refuge management, time savings and convenience.

Henderson notes that Genuity SmartStax corn was named Agri Marketing magazine’s New Product of the Year last season because of the new level of insect protection it provided by its multiple modes of above- and below-ground control and refuge reduction from 20 percent to 5 percent. “Taking that technology to the next level – by offering it as a single bag refuge management product – was a significant achievement that earned it the 2011 New Product of the Year honors,” he explains.
