Minimize Insect Resistance

Revolutionary dual-gene system of Genuity™ Bollgard II® takes advantage of two worm-stopping B.t. genes at the same time to deliver the best built-in worm control for farmers all across the cotton belt.

Genuity™ Bollgard II® produces two separate B.t. proteins that work to minimize insect resistance in two ways. Each protein is extremely active on the target insects and works at a different site of action within the insects. In order to survive, insects would have to contain resistance genes for BOTH proteins at the same time—which is extremely rare in nature.

Also, since Genuity™ Bollgard II® enhances control of bollworm and expands the spectrum of activity to include armyworms and loopers, the use of insecticides for these pests is eliminated or greatly reduced. The benefit of natural refuge from Genuity™ Bollgard II®, the challenges that come from planning, planting and managing non-B.t. cotton refuge acres are a thing of the past. Reduced use of conventional insecticides should delay insect resistance development to these important management tools.

A Natural Solution to Refuge Acre Hassles

With the benefit of natural refuge from Genuity™ Bollgard II®, the challenges that come from planning, planting and managing non-B.t. cotton refuge acres are a thing of the past. Instead, naturally occurring plants and crops already on your land do the job for you.

Protecting next year’s harvest

Following the proper IRM guidelines in your area is key to preserving the many benefits and the quality insect protection of B.t. cotton technology. By taking advantage of the appropriate varieties, seeding rates and planting technologies for your area, you are able to ensure that the superior protection of Genuity™ Bollgard II® will continue to help your cotton reach its true potential for years and harvests to come.

No one knows exactly how old cotton is. Scientists have determined fiber and boll fragments from the Tehuacán Valley of Mexico to be about 7,000 years old. Today, the new technologies are taking cotton into the future.
