Tour Stop 5 - Pre-Launch

On-Farm Trials

Duration: 12-36 Months
Genes in Testing: Final gene (or gene combinations)

We've made it to the final step of our pipeline. Only one gene out of tens of thousands will make it this far. After years of in-house research and regulatory approvals, one select gene will move to real farms to be trialed by our field trial participants. Additional regulatory approvals will continue, followed by seed bulk-up and marketing preparations for commercialization.

On-Farm Trials

  • Our on-farm trial program provides farmers with a first-hand experience with pipeline products under commercial-scale planting conditions.
  • This program combines full-field and small-scale approaches to optimizing the farmer's experience, training and education opportunities.

Pipeline Products

Insect Management

  • Trecepta™
Pending regulatory approvals, this next-generation product is designed to give growers broader control in managing corn earworm and fall armyworm insects.
  • SmartStax® PRO
This product could increase a farmer's ability to fight agriculture's "billion-dollar bug" — the corn rootworm — with the potential of more corn and fewer insecticide costs.

Weed Management

  • Next-Generation Herbicide Tolerant Corn
This product, with both glufosinate and dicamba tolerance, could help farmers manage weeds like waterhemp, kochia and marestail.

Yield and Stress

  • Roundup® Hybridization System (RHS)
Roundup® Hybridization System Corn is designed to further enable our commitment to continuous safety improvements reducing production costs and more efficient production.
  • Anthracnose Stalk Rot Resistant Corn
Anthracnose is the most prevalent stalk rot in corn, affecting 65% of US corn acres. Developed through advanced breeding techniques for improved health, this project is designed to provide improved resistance to this devastating plant disease.

Weed Management

  • Third-Generation Herbicide-Tolerant Soy
This product tolerates certain herbicides with additional modes of action, which could give farmers better control of a dozen different types of weeds in their soy fields.

Yield and Stress

  • Second-Generation Insect-Protected Soybeans
Second-generation insect-protected soybeans have the potential to provide protection against an expanded spectrum of insect pests including armyworm and podworm.

Insect Management

  • Bollgard® 3 XtendFlex® Cotton
Bollgard® 3 XtendFlex® Cotton is designed to build on the success of its predecessors by providing enhanced, season-long protection.

Weed Management

  • TruFlex™ Roundup Ready® Canola
TruFlex™ Roundup Ready® Canola is a second-generation weed control product. It would give farmers more flexibility by extending the time and increasing the rate by which they can apply Roundup® agricultural herbicides.
  • LibertyLink® Canola
LibertyLink® Canola offers farmers a second mode of action of herbicide tolerance that would give growers the flexibility to have multiple herbicide choices.
